How We Aim to Achieve Safer Cycling in NZ
Safer cycling doesn't come from a single change — it comes from awareness, education, community, and collaboration working together. In this short video, we share a quick look at the approach behind our work at Safer Cycling Foundation, and why we believe progress depends on everyone who uses the road, not just cyclists alone.
Watch the Video
The video above is a short introduction to how we think about this work. It's not a substitute for the detail on this site, but it's a quick way to get a feel for where we're coming from before exploring further.
The Approach Behind the Video
The themes in this video connect directly to the four focus areas that guide everything we do:
- Safer Road Awareness — helping every road user understand how their decisions affect the people cycling around them.
- Cycling Education — giving new and experienced riders alike the practical knowledge to make safer decisions.
- Community Engagement — creating space for cyclists and local communities to share what safer cycling actually looks like where they live.
- Advocacy and Collaboration — working constructively with organisations and decision-makers on environments that support safer journeys.
None of these focus areas work in isolation. A safer cycling environment is built gradually, through consistent effort across all four.
